Specific Responsibilities


Under the authority of the Vice-President, Human Resources, the Human Resources Business Partner will be responsible to give strategic advice and support to the management team on the people agenda.  The incumbent will give advice, coach the managers and supervisors located in multiples sites in Ontario primarily Brampton & Burlington.


The successful candidate will promote human resources management programs, best practices for the organization and is responsible for the implementation of various initiatives arising from the Canadian and global human resources strategy. 


The Business Partner ensures that all programs and policies are applied locally, such as performance management, salary review, bonus plan, development plan, succession plan management, and ensures compliance with the human resources policies issued by ABB Canada.  As a member of the Canadian Human Resources Team, the individual will also be fully integrated to management team locally and will play a catalyst role in change management, in assessing talent / skill gaps in the organization and help in the area of people development and in building and retaining talent.


The incumbent will act as a resource to managers to advise on full cycle of performance management   including the development of goals, performance measures, related assessment and investigations, monitoring, reward / disciplinary process and termination when required.


The Business Partner will make decisions on the application and/or interpretation of the laws, rules and regulations governing labor relations (provincial and federal) and when required will take action in the settlement of issues.


Specific Qualifications


Bachelor degree in an HR Related discipline.
A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in an Human Resources generalist role
Experience in a manufacturing  or technical environment in  an asset
Well develop verbal and written communication skills with experience conducting presentation at all levels
Display strong leadership to provide support to the management team & keep good working relations with employees
Solid knowledge of employment standard
Effective coaching, influencing, facilitation, conflict resolution and relationship management skills.
Well developed verbal & written communication skills with proven experience conducting presentations at all levels of  the organization
Excellent judgmentSelf-starter, decision-making abilities
Ability to adapt to changes and to act as agent of change
Listening skills and ability to coach others
Member of a Human Resources Association of Ontario and CHRP designation is an asset.
